Decision 2: Culminating Activity 1:
Paragraph Description:
Students will apply their understanding of exponential relationships to a real word situation. They will investigate a situation in which a population decreases-the phenomenon of radioactive decay.
To be completed in pairs.
Mini-Lesson:
1. Read description of tadioactive decay (pg 61).
2. Students will be given 100 cubes for modelling decaying atoms.
3. Students will then conduct the experiment found on pages 61-62.
Time (in days):
1
Summarize/Share:
Written report about findings of decay rates and half-lives.
