Plan for the Concept, Topic, or Skill -- Not for the Day

Lesson Essential Question:
How does a reader identify elements of plot structure in a text? 

What do students need to learn to be able to answer the Essential Question?


Assessment Prompt 1: What is plot?
Assessment Prompt 2: What is the exposition within the plot of a story?
Assessment Prompt 3: What is the rising action, climax, and falling action?
Assessment Prompt 4: What is conflict?
Assessment Prompt 5: What is the resolution?
Activating Strategy:
Using a Plot Line, students will predict and record the location for the plot elements within the plot line.  Once they have finished their predictions, the teacher will use their predictions within the assignment, so students can modify their predictions as they learn more about each element.
