Assessment Prompt 2: What elements within the text help the reader to determine the author's purpose?
Based on the title of a given article, each student will answer specific questions about the article before reading. These questions will focus around the author's purpose for writing the article.
AP: What is author's purpose?
Using the same article and graphic organizers, the teacher will provide direct instruction/model via Think Aloud. The focus will be using key words/phrases within the text that provide clues about the author's purpose. Clues and the support will be added to the GO.
